It’s our birthday!!

10 Years ago today, Graham Clarkson founded Leisure Energy to deliver a simple thought and concept of an idea; How can leisure centres and swimming pools reduce their energy consumption, become more carbon efficient buildings, and save money. In 2014, this was less cool and wasn’t part of the daily conversation the sector has been compelled to have due to unprecedented utility costs and the drive to net zero.

This philosophy and mission remain at the heart of what we do. Supporting leisure facilities (and other buildings) to become more economically and environmentally sustainable. It’s what we do! We are proud to also now be leading the transition to net zero carbon leisure facilities and have significantly transformed as a business providing full turnkey solutions.

Over the years we have worked with and supported many great organisations and people to achieve this mission and we would like to thank you for being part of our story. As we now move into our second decade, we are focussed more than ever to make a difference, deliver greater social value, and bring pioneering green technologies to the market for the sector. On the 14th February 2024, Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre saw the delivery of the first Leisure Energy ‘Net Zero Pod’ craned into place.

The Pod is a unique external plant room which has been designed and built by Leisure Energy in our technology centre. This is truly sector changing as it allows us to lead the transition to net zero carbon leisure facilities.

Funded by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, the Pod will decarbonise the Leisure Centre by removing the gas fired boilers and replacing them with the most efficient air source heat pump technology. The revolutionary new heat pump and green technology application will provide greater carbon savings and contribute to Staffordshire Moorland District Council’s net zero targets.

Delivered through the UK Leisure Framework, Leisure Energy is working in partnership with Alliance Leisure, the Council’s development partner, to deliver the project which will result in a more economical and environmentally sustainable community leisure centre and swimming pool. 💡 ⚡ ⚙ Parkwood Leisure

We’ve recently completed a solar and air source heat pump installation at Darlaston Swimming & Fitness Centre for Walsall Council reducing the carbon emissions by up to 420 tonnes.
These projects were funded through the government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme under the UK Leisure Framework with Alliance Leisure
