Islington Council and GLL social enterprise is reducing the annual energy consumption at Archway Leisure Centre by 33% thanks to their partnership with Leisure Energy.
GLL is the largest social enterprise in the UK and is the current leisure operator in Islington on behalf of Islington Council. They have an in-depth understanding of the operational aspects of leisure centre management from managing over 200 sites across the UK. As a not-for-profit trust, GLL recognised the opportunity to make savings by optimising the way energy was used around Archway Leisure Centre.
Over 37% of electricity will be saved per year and 28% of gas compared to initial usage at the start of the project. Archway Leisure Centre will reduce its energy use by 33% per year overall through a combination of replacing inefficient technology, with a payback of less than 3 years, and streamlining their energy consumption.
