Leisure Energy sponsors Quest NBS & CIMSPA Conference 2017

Leisure Energy are proud sponsors of the Quest NBS & CIMSPA conference 2017 on 14 and 15 March in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

The two-day conference is jointly hosted by Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and Quest NBS, the UK’s sport and leisure quality scheme.

The overarching theme of this year’s conference is The Benefits of Investing in Quality Facilities.

To us, quality means operational efficiency and a comfortable leisure centre environment. The challenge for many leisure centres is to identify what an energy efficient centre should pay for their energy usage. Leisure Energy works with leisure operators to significantly lower their utility bills by developing energy management strategies that use the latest patented technology, with excellent returns on investment. We have helped leisure centres save up to 35% on their consumption and dramatically reduce their carbon emissions.

Leisure Energy is exhibiting at the conference so do come along and speak to us if you would like to make savings and avoid wastage at your leisure centre.

There are a limited number of spaces left for the event.  To book, please visit http://bit.ly/2l3aNZu

RIBA recognises Managing Director of Leisure Energy with new Fellowship award

Robin Roberts, former Managing Director of Leisure Energy, has been recognised as a Fellow with Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The RIBA Fellow membership is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the profession and who are considered ambassadors for the sector’s future. Under this new membership grade introduced for 2017, Robin is just one of 30 individuals selected globally (14 from the UK) to receive this accolade, which he has added to his RICS Fellowship.

Robin has a well-established background of championing innovation, best practice and sustainability in the built environment, for which he has won multiple awards nationally and internationally for projects he has initiated.

Robin said “It is a real honour to receive this wonderful recognition from the RIBA and I am truly pleased to have now been awarded fellowships from two outstanding professional institutes”.

Taking the plunge on efficiency

Taking the plunge on efficiency

Leisure Energy’s former Managing Director, Robin Roberts reveals the opportunity for making significant savings at Local Authority leisure centres in the December issue of Campbell Ticket’s CT Brief.

“Sport England says swimming is second only to walking as th nation’s most popular physical activity. This is no surprise considering 78 per cent of the UK’s population live within two miles of a public swimming pool. However, it is

estimated that to run the UK’s sports facilities, the sector spends more than £700 million on energy every year and emits 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, too.

In a typical sports centre, energy costs will be second only to staffing costs and account for as much as 30 per cent of total running costs. When these significant running costs are considered, along with an acknowledgement that public swimming facilities in England have generally suffered from underfunding and are in need of constant maintenance and repair, it is no surprise that it is a challenge for operators and local authorities to keep some pools open.

Savings opportunity Energy consumption, coupled with the strong likelihood of increasing utility prices, continue to have a significant impact on the success or failure of a leisure facility – particularly one with a swimming pool. So, what if the sector could significantly reduce its energy consumption?

The leisure operator, whether a not-for-profit organisation or a local authority, could use these energy savings to prevent a facility from closing or invest them into improving the centre to generate more funds to support community outreach work.”
