The energy improvement works at Ashbourne Leisure Centre operated by Freedom Leisure in Derbyshire are underway.
180 solar photovoltaic panels have been erected on the roof ready for connection to the leisure centre’s energy systems and 2 Air Source Heat Pumps have been sited which will provide heat to replace the current gas boilers.
On completion of the works the leisure centre will reduce it’s annual carbon emissions by approximately 56% or 123 tonnes – equivalent to taking 63 cars off the road. This reduction in carbon will help towards Derbyshire Dales District Council’s objective to become carbon neutral by 2030.
